Question Change Door Guts

I have a 2000 4.3l v6 regular cab long box. Can I go back to previous years to change out the door components? I want to convert to power windows/locks/mirrors. My local salvage yard doesn't have anything newer than early 90's. Is this a relatively easy process or am I asking for trouble?
Thanks.

Extremely hard process...here's why. '98 and lower year models have an interior configuration different from '99 and up. Although you could pick up the "guts" fairly cheap from earlier years...you would most definately spend most of your time "rigging" them all up to work. You might want to check the magazine Truckin' for a two page add that is usually in the back of the magazine...For the life of me, I can't remember the company's name right now, but they make all of the updated celenoids, control boxes, switches and wiring harness to do just what you want. They have everything from power windows to power lifts for a toolbox or a bed cover. Sorry don't have more info...I just know, going through the dealership is way too expensive.

I agree, get a kit, the wiring is extremely complicated in these newer trucks. I believe that the company that he was talking about is AutoLoc. You can find them online at www.autoloc.com.

Re: Change Door Guts

Anyone have experience with these kits? I've done some searching and there are universal kits and specific application bolt in kits. Any advantages/disadvantages to either? The bolt in kits are a little more money.
