Question 91 Grand Prix 3.1L Just Died

Hi there, Ok, I'll be as detailed as I can.
My car is a 91 3.1L V6. 5 speed manual I have been having some problems with the car overheating, The Fans on the Rad dont seem to be kicking in. I fueled up the car and drove it home. I started looking at what could be wrong, and I found a couple of EXTRA wires that seem to be disconnected. ( as in wernt from factory. They lead into the interior to a swtich, There doesnt seem to be any power to these wires. Under the column it seems as if there was at one point either an alarm or remote starter.
Leading to the Dist. Cap(s) there are 5 wires and the purple one is cut and seems to be shortened, In order to reconnect I have had to add a short piece of wire.
I can hear the fuel pump kick in when I'm trying to start it, Theres lots of power from the battery, the car has 200,000 km on it.
I dont know what happened but it just wont fire, It turns over well but its almost like a wire has come off the cap but I cannot find anything that isnt disconnected. I have just spent the past 5 hours making sure every plug is connected. Including the vaccume lines. I have taken the plastic intake off and tried that, and Still nothing.
I just cant figure this out. Can someone PLEASE help. thanks
Mike

hey, I have a '88 gp se w/ 5 speed manual trans, and it died sometime during the fall last year. the feul pump was running, but it wouldnt start. I wasnt getting feul to 2 spark plugs, and I wasnt getting any spark. first thing I did is I went out, bought 6 new feul injectors for $50 each at autozone. it took me 6 hours in the rain to get the completed. the 2 injectors that werent giving any feul were the injectors the dealership put on just a year earlier. I also installed a crank position sensor and put in new spark plugs and spark plug wires. with that out of the way and the car still not working, it came to the ignition module and coil packs. it's real tricky to get out, and I broke my oil pressure sensor trying to get the ignition module out. the module was about $80 to replace, and after a quick oil change, it started right up, but it felt super sluggish and backfired a lot. I finally took it to a shop and they told me the feul pump was going out... only making about 15psi when it should be making about 40. I left it there overnight, they had it done super fast and I picked it up at 11 the next morning... it cost me $296 for the shop to install the pump. definately check to see if you're getting spark to your plugs and if they're getting feul. as for your overheating problem, you should try replacing the thermostat and the waterpump, and check for any blown fuses for the fans... if nothing is wrong, you might have to go to a junk yard and get a fan off of a car there.
