Hard starting after warmup
I had the problem with the thottle sticking and cleaned it out with carb cleaner. This worked great for the sticky thottle. But now after using the carb cleaner the truck starts great when cold or within 5 minutes of shuting it off. But if it sits for 15 minutes after warmup, it cranks and cranks then it kicks over. No problem with the starter. Is it starving for fuel? Please help.

you may have a fuel pressure regulator leaking

hard to start
I'm having the same problem as the other guy. I replaced my fuel filter and cleaned my throttle body but its still takes some time starting after the engine has been running for awhile. Can you help me with this?

I had same problem. Had to get new fuel pump. Around $300 just for the part. My local dealership had my truck for a week. They said they put a new pump in, and everyday I drove home and it would do the same thing. They inally got it right but makes me wonder how long it will last?

Hmm, we have hard starting and not starting.
Ok, guys her's the deal ,I have the 98 v-350 (vortev) (nascar) ,,,, Lets look at this from the truck stand point. Fuel, the computer is set at a certain level of octain rateting,it is adjustable for your sea level and can be reset. The fuel pump has a filter in the tank and on the frame rail. We must have clean fuel. hmmm one more thing .Fuel has carbon more carbon more power (remember ethle) 109 octain oh,,,yea that was good stuff it would take the paint of anything. coming up to the engine now ,,,,oh,,,my a fuel pressure regulator ,, it has a seal that must not be (leaking do to dirty fuel) so that when you stop the enginn to get your beer from the store the fuel rail does not shunt off the fuel pressure,,,,this will be the most commone problem of hot starts not to exclude bad starters . the maf sensore needs to be clean of carbon from the engine ,,,,,this will make your engine run (ruff) if dirty. in a short post i would r/r the filters clean the intake change the air filter to a k/n filter and run the computer to see what octain rating the computer is set at and set it to the lowest in your area ,,,have a good day. |
