air conditioning vents

I have a 99 grand am and i want to paint the air conditioning vents, but i cant figure out how they come out. can someone please tell me how to remove them.

I just recently removed mine, pull on them, pull them straight out, if they dont come out, then reach in with a small flat head screw driver and you will see 3 tab-like things, pry those up a little, and pull it out. It took me a while to figure it out, but once you do, its easy.
