I have a 1996 gl and the battery need to be jumped. I had schucks test the alt. and battery and they said the alt. was good and battery was low. Allthought it was the wrong battry for my car. any ideas why i lose battery power? i allso bought a the correct battery and it still does the same thing. I allso have the check engien light on but when i put the new battery in it was off and drove 100 miles and the lightr came back on and the battery died the next day?

Had this same problem with my Dad's Ford Ranger.
Check to see if the glovebox light is truly going out when you shut the glove box! The glovebox door needed adjustment on Dad's truck. Try removing the bulb for a week or two; your problem may go away. |

I would start by checking the trouble codes to see why you have a check engine light and fix that problem. Also you need to check if there is any significant current drain with everything turned off, if you find that there is then you have to try and isolate it. One way is to pull fuses until the drain drops or goes away, when that happens you just have to see what that fuse is linked to and trace the problem from there.
