2001 Nissan Frontier Rear Brake Noise
I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier (crew cab) with 55,200+mi on it. I recently had this loud knocking noise at the right rear wheel when I hit the brakes.
Initial pressure on the brakes reveal the noise but when I fully apply pressure, the noise goes away. The noise is like two metals banging at each other. I went to the dealer last Sat and have it check and the service guy told me its the rear brake cylinders that's causing the problem. I followed their advice and have it replaced. But $375 later, the noise is still there. Just this morning on my way out of the garage, I accidentally left the parking brakes on and while moving forward slowly I duplicated that same noise. Any ideas what's causing these?? I am hinting that it might be the parking brakes, anything's possible. Thanks.

Re: 2001 Nissan Frontier Rear Brake Noise
My 1993 240sx did the same thing. I replaced my rotors, pads, etc....but never found out what it was....I guess its a common flaw in nissans parking brake system.
