It likes to "bog" down or whatever you want to call it and loses power when the gas pedal is pressed down...i've checked the TPS, and the EGR valve and they are both good. replaced the spark plugs and wires...any suggestions?...also new map sensor, fuel filter, mass flow air sensor...thanks

Re: Stupid Cavy

Check O2 sensor and while yer at it-remove the throttle body and check the underside for built-up crap that'll cause flow problems.

Unhappy 2002 Cavalier 2.2

I have a 2002 Cavalier and all the problems have started. I just replaced the Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter. When I am driving down the road it just dies. I had someone look at it and they say my alternator cable was loose and tighten it. They also said it could be a problem with my computer. I called the dealership and they said that 2002 cavaliers have the reputation of Fuel Pumps going out, (which mine did) and computer problems which only they can fix for $600. OMG can someone please give me some advice on what this could be. I did notice a few times that the engine when driving sounded and felt like it was going to die. Please Help.

Re: Stupid Cavy

change the transmission fluid filter if its an auto which im guessing it is. If you do it your self buy a bunch of fluid first with the filter, you will lose it all when you do the change.

My 86 Cavalier 2.0 was losing power and a new air filter cleared it right up.The old one was filthy. Believe it or not.
