Qualified/Finished 4th for the NHRA SportCompact Natl's this weekend

Wow ... what a weekend.

I did two runs during the open track time on Saturday.
I ran a 12.1 @ 115 (boost controller was set wrong)
... then I ran a 12.3 @ 114 (I blew off the hose before the turbo)
I parked my car and waited for the qualifying rounds.

I was trying to qualify for the NHRA Sport Compact Sport RWD class (AWD & RWD street cars).
In the class there was 3 WRX's, an EVO Lancer, Talon and me.
I was the only legitamate RWD car ... everyone else was sporting AWD.

I ran one of the WRX's on my 1st qualifying run and hit a 12.1 @ 117.41.

The 2nd round of qualifying did not happen well after 7:30 pm.
It was dark and much cooler. I loved the way the air felt and I was feeling good about Hyde so I upped the boost

I did a 22.57 psi run (1.60 hg/cm2). Up till then I had been racing Hyde at 22 psi.

I nailed a 1.795 60' (the 3rd best of my life) and managed a blistering new personal best of 11.742 @ 118.74 mph.
I went across the scales and Hyde weighed in at 2840 with me in him. I am 165 lb ... tha gives Hyde's final weight at 2675 (less than 1/4 tank of gas)

I qualified 4th.
1st was the EastStreet WRX @ 10.6 (the Web site linked above is wrong.. he hasn't touched 9s yet).
2nd was the Talon @ 11.2
3rd was EVO @ 11.2
4th & 5th was guy in a WRX and his Fiance in her WRX ... both in the 13s

The NHRA Official promptly warned me that without a fire proof jacket I would get booted if I ran another sub-12 run.

Sunday morning there was rain and they cancelled Round 3 of qualifying ... when the track was dry they just went right into the eliminations.

The first round I raced the EVO and I realize my only chance was if he broke .... in that case I would have to get off throttle to run an 11 and get booted from the track.

I must say pulling up to this race was the most excited I have been so far ... I pulled Hyde through the burnout box and pulled off a really nice smokey burn out.

I had turned boost down to stay out of the 11s, but when I pulled up to the line ... I changed my mind. I turned boost back up

He got me on the reaction: He had a .293 and I managed a .203
I NAILED the launch... 1.685 compared to his 1.747 (so much for more power and AWD )
I had him to the 330' mark and somwhere right before 1/2 track he started pulling on me ... 7.50 to my 7.51 at 1/2 track.
I have a new best 1/2 track mph.... 96.57 mph!

From there he pulled away from me ... I ran a new personal best of 11.731 @ 116.87.

Unfortunately I do not have this run on video, but I understand it should be online in the next few days on the EVO boards.

My 330 times were 4.96 and 4.95 on the 11 sec runs.

Heard that. That's not bad at all. I wish we had a big track to take our car to see what it could do in the 1/8th, could'nt run the 1/4 but it could go the 1/8th.

what is hydes 0-60 roughly? (or jekyl for that mattter!)

Hyde's 0-60 at the track is most likely in the mid 3 second range ... on street tires, probably the low 4s.

congrats, theres an mr2 that come out to the local raceway, that runs 11's out here. he has a huge "daily driven" vinyl, and then he trailers his car there. still faster than me though
