Transmission Noise in 2004 Corvette Coupe
If someone could help me understand this, boy would that be great. What the heck is the lound clunk coming from the transmission in the 6-speed 2004 vette. If I turn the car on, put it in a gear and take it out again, let the clutch out, a loud bang or clunk comes from the transmission. What is that? The dealer says it is normal. Does this happen on all vettes with a 6-speed? How could a vehicle of this magnitude have a normal sound like that. I also get alot of transmission noise while driving let alone the rattle from underneath when in first gear and when turning the car off. This is a huge disappointment. If this is normal, GM should make you aware of this. My dealer sure did not.

Re: Transmission Noise in 2004 Corvette Coupe
If the warranty hasn't run out I would chew some butt and have it fixed. Sounds like major probs to me.
I am no C-5 expert, but it sounds like the guts are shot. The last time I heard noises like that was when a trans was out of oil. A rattly shut down could be loose clutch dampeners or too much back lash between the input gear and the cluster gear. I have heard of dealers putting off major complaints in hopes of delaying repairs until warranty expires. You can always go over peoples heads to the next higher-ups. Or chew some butt on the dealer owner. If all else fails, find another dealer that might be willing to work w/you. Hope it works out. ---TEX---
