5 Speed 4:10 Gears 2000GT

I have 327 gears now and am considering the swap to 4:10's. It's my daily driver with a 5 speed (half freeway half stop and go). I am not worried about a few more revs on the freeway but is it a total pain shifting in traffic with the 4:10's? My thought is that I would actually be easier allowing me to stay in 2nd gear in very slow traffic, where as now I have to push in clutch to avoid stalling. I don't think I'd be happy with the smaller jump to 373's. Part of me says go up to 4:30's but I know that's getting crazy for a driver car... or is it?

4:10's are a little steep for a 5-speed, whether you think you can handle the revs or not. It's gonna net you a little worse fuel economoy as well as extra strain on the drivtrain. I'd go with 3:73's if I were you. I know of a guy around here who put 4:10's in his t-5 lx and he said it just becomes a pain sometimes, constantly shifting around town.

Well, what are you looking for? The main reason for gears is to improve your acceleration. I think the 4.6L will be awesome with 4.10's, but you really have to decide on what you want first?

4.10s for a 5.0 would be a waste, but with the 4.6 is a different story.
