Question auto to standard conversion

I have a '93 3.3 Grand Am and I am thinking about converting it to a 5 speed. The tranny I was thinking of using was out of a '90 Z24. I was wondering if anybody knows if the flywheel off of a 2.8 would work on a 3.3. I know the tranny will bolt up ok.

Re: auto to standard conversion

Why would you convert 93?

auto to standard conversion

The '93 is all I can afford and I am tired of rebuilding auto trannies and spending a $1000-1500 every year or less. I would prefer converting a 2000 or newer GT, but I will have to do with the '93.

auto to standard conversion

Thanks for the tip. Tried my conversion with my '93 3.3 but it woudn't work. The 2.8/3.1 flywheel is different than the 3.3.(6 bolt/3.1-8 bolt/ 3.3) So I got out my '95 and I'm about 75% complete. I have about a total of 15 hours into the conversion so far. I will be posting about later on to let people know how it went and list the details.

Thumbs up auto to standard conversion

The tranny swap is complete and works excellent. Still have to work out a few bugs. The improvement is incredible. Will have the details posted later.

Thoght I would let you know that the caonversion swap is working very well. The car is still holding together and really turns on. I'm still working on some things like getting a remote reservoir for the clutch master cylinder. Also I have to find an electronic speed sensor for the tranny. Will have the full details and some part numbers listed on my website soon. If you have any questions you can e-mail me.

so what is the link to your site? I would like to read the details about this. Was the car a 2.4 or 3.1?
