94 Escort Lock Change

Can anyone help me with the following?

The drivers side door lock is knackered and i have bought a replacement cylinder from the local ford dealer, call me dim but i cannot remove the old lock. Can anyone give me some advice on removing the old lock and instlling the new one??

Any help would be great.
