Having a little trouble passing emissions test
A friend is having a bit of a prob. in his inspection.
Here's what he's done so far to get his emissions down to were it aught to be. On-board computer diagnostics systems says all is ok. 1993 Econoline E-150 4.9 engine new oxygen sensor new catalytic converter recent oil changed twice since restarting about 3 wks ago complete tune-up no missing runs like a top vehicle sat for about a year, started again about 3 wks ago. since started again, about 1,500 miles engine has 245,000 mi.. does not use any oil only test failed is Hydrocarbons, should be 129, but is at 292. Anybody with any ideas, .. ???? Thanks guys Paul Gerdes |

Re: Having a little trouble passing emissions test
High H/C is typically due to excessive "blow-by". Change the PCV valve (cheap and easy), and try again as they can cause this on a sound engine.
