pulley kit's>.....???

Ok I just purchased a bottom of the line v-4 accord 2001 i think it's a 2.3l soch. Well I have never been in to ricers or honda's. My friends always laughed at "rice burners" but see I just bought a car that would be reliable and cheap it so happen to be this accord. I started first by just messing around online and found a intake aem cai. I saw dyno results and the cheap price...so I bought it and then I just got a cat-back magnaflow exhaust...which hasn't been put on yet sometime this week hopefully.....I just bought a underdrive aem pulley kit...but I have been reading online so much about engine wear and lack of alternator power with the aem and unorthodox and all brand pulley kit's. Well to bad i already bought the aem pulley kit ...although i didn't install it yet...what I am wondering is if I should put the pulley kit on or sell it. Is it worth it will i really get premature engine wear. Also give opinions but if you can back it up with some facts and a website if you know of any. All help will be appreciated. thank you ....

i dunno about premature engine wear but i heard the alternator story. ppl say to just use the powersteering and AC pulley. I heard the AC will take longer to cool when at idle but dont know if it is true.

no such thing as a v4, it's an inline 4. The AEM kit does not remove the harmonic balancer, therefore it should not cause any accelerated wear, if anything, it should extend the life of the alternator and ps pump.

However, don't expect huge gains from pulleys....2-3whp is about all you'll see. The Intake is going to be the best improvement you get....however, in any case, bolt-ons are a very bad way to gain power, and won't really give you much at all in the end. Inline 4s are all about some forced induction if you want real power, or the equivilant idea - extremely high compression ratios.

i dont see how it will extend alternator life. It underdrives it at idle since it is a larger pulley so it will rotate less.

the idea of the pulley is just to replace the old one with a new lighter one. allowing the belt to move more easily. it will still rotate at the same speed and would only ease tension on the pully system prolonging any engine wear.
