Really Rough Idle.
Ok,
I upped the RPM's so it idles higher, and even now I sit at stop lights and the whole car shakes, I mean nothing noticeable from outside the car but you can deffinately feel it inside. You can see the steering wheel shake. It smooth's instantly with a little gas, but it is really annoying. If anybody knows what it could be, and even better how to fix it it would be much appreciated. |

Have a compression test done. If it smooths when you give it some gas you may have a compression problem, ie.. incorrectly adjusted valves or burnt/ damaged valves. Worth a shot |

Re: Really Rough Idle.
Depending on the situation, this actually sounds normal for a 4th gen with miles on it. Usually it's just because of soft motor mounts, if you have an auto...that'd be why, hydraulic rear mount relaxes as a stand still sometimes causing the steering wheel and such to vibrate.

Re: Really Rough Idle.
Is this the same with the fifth gen's? This prob isn't the end of the world, but I always wonder what effect it might have on other things that could rumble loose over time, or anything like that. It would be a pain to replace the mounts.

Re: Really Rough Idle.
How much are new mounts, and how hard are they to install?

Re: Really Rough Idle.
Just remember that you get what you pay for! Scimping on mounts isn't a money saver unless they're good quality...
