Exclamation Decided Loss of Power

I have a 01 TDI with almost 100K Miles and have a decided loss of power. Can go just fine on level surface, but can't go above 70 on a slight incline.

No Check Engine Light, but my wife was driving it the other day and after I told her about the power loss, she said.. "Oh yeah, the curly thing was blinking for a while"

So the Glow Plug light was blinking, but has not since...Been a couple of weeks since she drove it and power loss started a few days ago, fairly abrupt, not gradual.

Any Ideas...Most common problems it seems should trip check engine light and I could get the code, but no luck.

Re: Decided Loss of Power

Hmm, Im not a mechanic, but it sounds like it could be a transmission problem. That might explain the reason there is no check engine light as well. Are you driving an Auto or a Stick? Of course it could be something else, but I would bet its something to do with the tranny.

Re: Decided Loss of Power

I have a friend who says its probably just a small problem with either the manifold, alternator, or distributor. Hope this helps!

Re: Decided Loss of Power

There's a very good chance it can be the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or a clogged intake/EGR system. Check out these:

Re: Decided Loss of Power

I wouldn't leave it that way though, that just puts it in limp mode (better than the off calibration MAF).
