And I'm not forgetting the original point. But my point is, if you have a car that you spent $100,000 on and I spent $200,000 on mine, and I beat you in a race, then my car is BETTER than yours.
You are using the word "better" in a very broad sense. Using your example, the Z06 is BETTER than the M3. It's faster everywhere.
I completely disagree that the M3 would perform better with the LS6. First of all you'd have to fit a 5.7L block in place of a 3.2L. The weight distribution would be upset. Holdens use the 'vette block (LS1) here in Australia. Their breakdown rate is scary.
The weight of a fully dressed LS6 is not that much. The LS6 block only weighs 105lbs. You've heard of the 01 M3 fiasco right? I don't recall any LS1s just blowing up. Excessive oil use, yes...blowup, no.
And I'm not an engineer so I can't define better engineering. But how many International Engine of the Year awards has the LS6 won? They measure engine capabilities based on displacement, not price point. If it was the other way around, the LS6 would decimate the competition. In essence, hp/L is what they look at. That is a 100% useless stat in street applications because there is no limit on displacement. Or are all those judges wrong too and we should still take you word?
