running on 3 cyl dont know why? 95 civic
I am getting fuel, spark, have checked distributor and wires as well as the fuel injectors, changed spark plugs and made sure i am getting power to everything. When i pull the second plug as you are looking at the engine it has no effect on the rough idle. I pulled the vlve cover and everything seems to be in order. could the o2 sensor cause one cyl not to work. to me it acts like that cyl. is not providing any power. I had the compression checked and it is fine. What could be the problem here. any ideas would be a great help.

Re: running on 3 cyl dont know why? 95 civic
what was the ending fix for your car? did you have to get the rings changed or was there something else that fixed the problem? thanks for the first reply right now that looks like the problem but of course they want to just replace everything.

Well its kind of a long story....I warped my head gasket on the original engine for my 92 civic. So I had the dealership install a used engine to replace the one that was bad. Of course they threw an engine in there without compression testing it......and don't let anyone tell you they can't compression test an engine without it being in the car...they can. So 200 miles later on this used engine, it lost compresion on a cylinder. Finally, I just ended up getting another civic. If the compression is your problem, you are probably better off getting a replacement engine. It will almost definetly be more expensive to rebuild your engine. Also, if you choose to replace the engine...DO NOT GO TO DEALORSHIP. Shop around for a good price and a good waranty. You may also be able to drive on the engine you have now....you'll just have less power and have to add oil frequently.
