Re: buh

Lots of possibility.

1. Alternator bearing failing.
2. Water pump bearing failing.
3. Leak in Intake Manifold.
4. Oil filter leaking (simple fix would be to tigten up the oil filter more to prevent oil from escaping through the oil filter gasket).
5. Some people notice they hear whistle after installing a CAI (cold air intake) and some reported somewhere in the PCV.
6. Stretched out serpentine belt or loose belt tensioner.

Re: buh

Soviet, if the car is charging ok all the time.(Would need to get a voltimeter to make sure this is correct) and the whinning goes away when the engine rpms are higher than 2000 then even tought the PS is full it could make noise. That happens and gets worse with age

Re: buh

I had a whinning noise before and it was the air conditioning compressor. I bought some special oil for it (can't remeber exactly what its called), put it in and the engine was quiet after that.
