timming
hey fellas i have a 95 gt{auto} with45k miles, im 16 and want a bit of imput on how to make her go a bit faster for cheap. i plan for a shift kit and im going to remove my air silencor. iv herd people also bypass their pumps and change the timming to 16 of 14 hwo do i do these?

Try doing a search there are many threads on beginning mods. I wouldnt go higher than 14 or 15 degrees for timming on a stock motor either. What pump are talking about? Air pump?

Please tell me your kidding right? Do you want to lock your motor up on purpose?
No water pump = No engine Now you can bypass your air pump. But that isn't a good idea either if you have catalytic converters. I would suggest pulleys and rear end gears before you do anything.

Cant bypass the water pump but you can buy and electric water pump. That will save a little hp since you wont have a belt driving it.

Yeah the bad thing about an electric water pump is
1. its not gonna give you much more horsepower. 2. its gonna add more strain on the cars electrical system 3. If it shoots craps how will you ever know. I think its a bad idea for an everyday driver. There are way more other mods you can do for your car without worring about that right know.

electric water pumps are a waste of money unless your looking for that extra 4 hp on a sraight up drag car. They are very expensive and take a lot of electrical power to run like eillob said.

You can bypass the AC compressor and power steering pump if you really need too. Should free up a few hp, but I doubt you'll feel a difference because your stock auto tranny is really eating up a lot of power.
Advanced timing is free power, but it has it's limits before you start losing power. Stock timing is 10* BTDC. I would suggest trying 12* to 14* of timing. A lot of people will say to advance your timing till you here pinging (detonation) then back off a few degrees. But on a fairly stock car I would not go more then 16*. Now advancing your timing may require to run higher grade fuel because of detonation may occur. I have my timing set to 16* and run 89 octane with no problems, but it may be different in your case.
