If you're trying to go as fast as you can, you should just know when to shift. You feel the car reach its peak power. In a CRX SiR, the peak power is at 7800 and the red line is at 8200. The best thing to do is let it rev over the peak power slightly say up to about 8200 and then shift up, that way you stay well when on the VTEC boost when you enter the next gear. I've managed a 0-60 of 6.4secs in mine. Its slightly tuned and develops around 200bhp - not bad at all!

Re: when do yall shift?

ummm, it depends on your engine and if you have any top end mods..i can shift at 10k safely..but i wouldnt reccomend that for you...if you have an si SOHC Vtec, then i say throw her ass around 6900 -7k , that engine fuel cuts at 7500 so about 7 your golden, but i wouldnt do this for driving to walmart...save it for a race because revving that high that often on a stock top end is just asking for trouble ...so try a run next time your out driving and throw her ass at 7 and see what i mean ...youll be happy

I shift when I have time

I have an SI that had indiglo gauges on it. I always thought something was a little off when I found out SI's are suppost to redline at 7200 and I was taking mine to 8200. So I took them off and found out they were wrong and the stocks were behind them. Still shift at 8200 though, if I'm not smoking a cancer stick or on the phone. You should try doing all three at once

Re: when do yall shift?

8200 on a single cam Vtec is retarted bro ... your gonna spin a bearing drivin like that, the fuel cuts on the SOHC Vtec at like 7600 ..whatever floats your boat bro, but id say youve been lucky so far and wouldnt push it any further, the b16 DOHC vtec has an 8200 redline so that was the gauge you were running in there im sure

yeah my bad

I did state that clearly. It was at 8200 on the old ones and 7600 on the right ones, but I don't shift there. I shift just before redline so that it doesn't take it above redline. Normal driving I shift at 3000 to 3500, unless I feel like ripping through first to get a nice 2nd and then shift low rpms (just to out of the hole at a light etc...)

Re: when do yall shift?

even shifting at 7600 when racing isnt a good idea because your over-line and your at your fuel cut..good way to blow her up. i also think that shifting at 3k is too low ..but this is all just my 2cents

Re: when do yall shift?

Cricket.... congratulations... you just got your first thread locked. Why? Here's why....

1 - your last post about tails... wtf does that have to do with shifting? Nothing. Don't pull threads off topic. This is NOT a free for all. --Tranzlogic this applies to you as well. --

2 - If you have an Si, you are not pulling her up to 8200 unless you have some pretty major work done. 8200 is the redline on the B16a3, which is found in the 94/95 DOHC VTEC models. You bought the gauges for that model, not an Si, and I suggest getting the correct gauges, so you know what your RPMs really are.

3 - Lose your attitude. No explanation needed. But I will tell you that keeping a hotheaded and cocky attitude will get you nowhere but banned. I don't put up with that shit.
