lost power

i am so depressed right now. my z car has lost a ton of power. when it idles, it is a really rough idle. and when i accelerate, it sounds like a thumping noise in my exhaust. it sounds like all fuel injectors are working (can tell by the clicking noise). i am thinking it might be the catalytic converter, what do you guys think it is? it hurts me so bad hearing her like this. thanx.

if it has trouble revving up, it might be the fuel filter. i had a similar problem.

If it's the fuel filter... it will be an easy fix. Easy to check also... you know where it's at, right? If not... turn in your Z badge.... you make me sick!


If you know where it's at... remove it... applie both lips to the nipple (be sure not to bite to hard... she hates that!) and blow! If it's hard to do and a bunch of fuel or junk comes out: REPLACE IT! If it comes out easy... good luck in finding the real problem. I hate when my Z acts like a bitch too... hope you get here running again!

she didn't do it at all today but a little bit in the morning. but she did it all day yesterday. so it might be the fuel filter.

well, it wasn't the fuel filter. i replaced it today and i still have no power. i think one of my cylinders aren't firing. either there is a bad injector or a bad plug is what i think.

OOoooO are you sure that thumping noise is coming from your exhaust? sounds like piston slap. Do a compression test and possibly a leakdown test if you want.

check the plugs man. i had a similar problem in my z. it was doing the same thing. the plug was not firing like it should. well thats just a hint. try it. also i have a question, everytime i get my z up to 125 or better i blow a spark plug. does anyone know y this is. I have top of the line platinum plugs in there. all info is greatly appreciated.
