The cav is limited in a similar way, however there isn't an easy aftermrket way to eliminate the speed limiter because there is no Hypertech for the cavalier. This you can tell because you hit the limiter, and then the computer shts the car down, but you know the car will pull far higher than the revs shown on the tach.

I do agree that exceeding a speed of 108 is idiotic on regular roads, and I have yet to see a location that the speeds are over 75 on the interstate, even Montana put back up speed limits.

I know how to do it, but it results in disabling the computer, and altering the odometer reading on the car as well.
I have a Blazer also and wouldent mind knowing how to disable the odometer. I`m close to losing the warranty due to mieleage

Re: takin off a govener

If youre going to take it in to a dealer with the odometer disabled then you are a stupid fuck. You do realize that they will know you disabled it. If you really want to void your waranty go to j-body.org and search for VSS mod in the transmission forum

Hahahahahahahahhahaha

You guys still never answered the guys question. Here man i'll help you. You have to either A) buy a a new chip which could be from $150 to $500 or B) go to a hole in the wall mechanic shop and ask one of the young kids that works there that you will give him like $50 to take the thing off. B is what I did. now my stock 2001 Z24 did shut off at 106 now around 135 but thats because the stick cavalier doesn't have enough power to push the car ove 135-140. I have hit 156 but that was drafting off my friends heavily modded Z28 camaro and that took us like 6 miles to do.

For all you guys that are telling him he doen't need to take it off im going to tell you the words that Ludacris says in his song "FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU" haha great saying.

Re: takin off a govener

there is no chip available whether it be 150 or 600 dollars that will take the limiter off...a mere cut wire with a switch to it will though...

Re: takin off a govener

There's a fairly simple mod to disable the limiter on the cav, but it just ain't smart-the cav ain't designed to race.
You screw up and hit something with that dog piece a tin and yer gonna die...

I've owned several cavs and they just don't have it in 'em unless ya structurally modify them. Floppy POS's.

'Sides- disabling the limiter on some newer ones also disables the odometer which for sure is a federal offense.
