Power window conversion?

has anyone done a manual window to power window conversion with their Civic (96-98)??

i want to do this with my 97 hatch, but i'm not sure of the approach to take....

could you get the interior door panel to an Civic EX Coupe (96-98) and then just buy an aftermarket generic motor assembly and wire it up into the existing buttons on the EX door panel??? if so, any recommendations on which aftermarket power conversion kit is reliable??

or

do you need to get the motor unit and wiring and interior door panel all from an EX Civic and put it together that way??

are there other interior door panels that work on the Civic (96-98) hatch besides the EX Coupe panels from 96-98??

any info is appreciated....thanks....mc

Re: Power window conversion?

btw....i've read the other posts on this and am still confused as to whether or not there is some additional wiring harness that goes under the dash, or if the wiring harness is part of the "guts" of the door and from there it just wires into one of the spare positions in the fuse box???

thanks again...

go to www.a1electric.com they make vehicle specific after maket power window kits. i bought te kit for my 96 civic dx and it awesome.....works fine....you dont have to worry about getting the door panels either.
they make switches that will fit in the slots in your center console

Re: Power window conversion?

thanks blue....i will try something similar....

so, after looking at that website, it sounds like i need to buy the following in order to run the windows to my battery directly....

1. power window kit "scissor bar kit"
2. switch kit
3. One touch automatic window module (530T)
4. two accessory power relay with fuses (to go from windows to battery directly) (Relay 1).

it's about $400 to do the whole thing.....lemme know if my list of parts sounds complete....i'll probably contact a1 by phone too and be sure that i'm ordering everything i need....

thanks again for the help.....greatly appreciated.....
