V8 in a 95 grand am?

I just had this overwhelming idea rain right over me.. what if i bought say a chevy 305 or 350 and swapped that into my 95 grand am gt.. i know there would have to be some modding done in order to do this.. but is this at all even possible? thanks for all your help.. and how much money am i looking into for this job? thanks in advance

Not sure, but your car is front wheel drive and the engine your taking about putting in is to big to use on a front wheel drive and needs a big hump down the center of the car for the proper tranny. I wonder if the Cadillac front wheel drive engine would fit? It's a V-8. (North Star) I do know that engine is hard to work on, do to no room to work. I changed a smog pump on one.

you could pick and older caddy ht4100, you still would need a big ass shoe horn but its a front wheel drive engine with a real dependable overdrive tranny behind it. Though you could just as well drop in a blown 3.8 from a rivvy or and gtp and swap out the eaton 62 for a eaton 90 and have a powerfull beast

anyone know how much it would cost to rebuild a blown 3.8 and swap it in my car

A cadalac setup could work , lots of work but can be done.
