Question Import JDM cars?

As everyone probablly knows the JDM 300zx, and the US ver are similar if not the same. Can someone explain the differences to me if there are any? What stops people from importing 300zx cars? I have found an auto auction in japan that sells cars for very cheap like 500$, because there are so many of them there. What steps must I take to begin importing 300ZX cars. I know I must become an RI, also what is an ICI, and what are the differences?

Re: Import JDM cars?

heres what i plan doing: import many jdm cars with less mileage, and at much cheaper prices, seeing they are domestic there. after making them legal and getting one for myself i would sell them make $ and then buy a skyline off motorex. see what they converted/changed, and use their crash test records i have found online easily to legalize skylines. another thing thats funny is that i noticed in the pictures they crash tested gts skylines that are cheap ones and they import GTRs, also why are they located in Gardena CA, isnt that where Nissan America is located... i smell something

Re: Import JDM cars?

There ARE differences between the USDM and JDM versions... the TT version over here is rated at 300HP... while the JDM version is rated at like 285HP... but it's actual output is well above 300HP! But this is debatable... some say it is actualy 285HP. The turbos on the USDM version are bigger than the JDM. Also it is rumored that the JDM engines are weaker internally and tend to break-down quicker than the US version.

Oh... and trying to STEAL MOTOREX's secrets is illegal. Can you say PATENT? I'm gonna report you...

Um... actually the "300ZX" is still emblazoned on the rear garnish (in red) of the Z32 Fairlady's in Japan.
