Angry no sound in left speakers

I occasionally have absolutely no sound coming from my left speakers in my Explorer (95)...I have a Sony Xplod HU and have just bypassed the factory amp (pain in the ass). It's been playing fine for almost 2 years and I can't pinpoint the problem. But I'm pretty sure it's down to the wiring or the HU.....I would appreciate some opinions on my problem....I'm flipping out. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Bypassing the factory amp did absolutely nothing for the left speakers......but it has been hooked up to my HU for the past 2 years...so it was a lot clearer sounding for about a minute (until the speakers went out again).

Makeup--HU, 4 speakers, no tweeters, no subs, no amps. Just a problem with the left hand side.

Re: no sound in left speakers

check the wiring dude... thats about all it could be... unless your running all your speakers off an amp, then it might be your RCA cable that is partially f**ked

I've pulled the HU twice and the wiring looked ok....bumps don't affect it. Someone told me that the channels in the HU amp may be fried and that this was not unusual for a Sony HU....does this sound feasible?

Re: no sound in left speakers

I have the same problem on my head unit, but i figured out that the left channel on the head unit was dead. You can test this by connecting the right speaker wire to the left output of the head unit.

I'll switch wires and try that.....

One more thing...now that the weather is getting warm.....this may sound crazy, but when the temp gets hot outside the speakers work...but when it's cool they go out again.....I know I sound like a retard, but that's what it's been doing.
