98 civic dx problems
I have 3 problems I need to get fixed, hoping someone here can help me out.
The car has only 40,000 miles on it and was in a front end collision with the previous owner, so I got it really cheap. 1. When the AC is on, there is a rhythmic whump whump whump noise from the driver's side. I replaced the belt for the compressor but that didn't seem to help. The noise comes and goes, but if you turn off the ac it stops right away. Performance seems to go down, and hesitation problem (see below) seems to be worse. Is the compressor going out? 2. The car takes off from a stop fine, but at around 20-40 mph when I brake and then try to accelerate nothing happens unless I slam the gas down. If I do that there is a second when the engine sounds like it's slowing down, and then it jumps ahead. The cap/rotor/wires/plugs/air filter were all just replaced. 3. The transmission (auto ) cooler line is leaking...is it something I could replace without much trouble, or am I better off taking it in for replacement. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me any kind of help. |

#2, that's the nature of the auto tranny. It waits till the right moment to downshift for you, mine does the same thing, nothing wrong there with that. Just not in the right RPM range for it to shift right away. A half assed "fix" to this, is the downshift it manually by putting shifter into "D3" or "2" depending on what gear the car is in when doing this. Shifting it manually will make it respond almost immediately compared to letting it do it's own shifting work. Just don't do it all the time like this.

Re: Re: 98 civic dx problems
Thanks, this is the first auto I've ever driven, so I'm not used to that at all.
