My SES light comes on when my Gas tank hits 25%?

My SES light comes on when my gas tank hits below 25%. A few months back I had the fule pump and filter replaced at my local dealer. I don't remember the exact code that I pulled but it was something about the evap system, I think it was a p404?

Is the SES light ascociated with the fule pump and inturn covered under the gm good wrench warrentee, and should I bring it back to my dealership for my GM good wrench warrentee? or try to fix it my self.

I know it IS NOT a loose gas cap, I always tighten it up till it clicks, and I also cleaned the seal on the cap, and the thing the cap goes onto.

What say you good people what do you think it is, and how should I go about fixing it.

I think you may possibly have a problem with the fuel evap system, that returns unused fuel and vapors to the tank. Not sure about this, you would need to get the code again and ask a GM service center. Just a few of the things you are saying leads me to this possibility.

I had a fuel pump replaced recently, and when I got a service engine code right afterwards the dealere said to get the code and call him. When I did, the code I had was P430 or something like that, which he said was something more like a symtom of poor quality gas. This in turn would set this code when the cat converter couldn't operate within its range. Anyway, I reset my codes, and it never reoccured again.

In the process of talking about the possibilities of what codes he has seen after pump replacement there was one (and I think it was P404 or 440) that would come up if the evap lines weren't connected or possibly crimped. I would find out the exact code again, and try tracing these lines and connections if the code points to this. Good luck...

First we need the correct DTC
From what you are describing, I believe you have a P0440 code which is a large leak in the EVAP system.
If this problem happened after the fuel pump was replaced, I would look towards an EVAP line or tank seal left off or improperly installed.

OK, here is the code, it is a P0440, but for some reason I think this is a different one than i was getting before. sorry it took so long I had to wate for it to come back on

P0440 indicates there is a large leak in the EVAP system..if this problem occurred after the fuel tank was removed and reinstalled, I would look towards a missing or incorrectly installed tank seal or a EVAP line that has not been properly installed.
There is a special tool that can be used to inject non-toxic smoke into the EVAP system to help pinpoint the source of the leak..I don't know if it is availible to the general public.

You guys where rite, it was their fault, they fixed it for free. there was a loose evap hose that they didnt tighten when they droped the tank
