Carbon Fibre- graphic manip. discussion, no chop
Something's been bothering me for over a year. Many people who use CF in their chops, whether it be a hood or a panel totally overdo the texture. you know what i'm talking about
not everyone does it, i know that was a generalisation you pc bastards ...Now maybe i haven't seen enough carbon but.. Here's a nice r34 gtt with a CF bonnet... no texture yet get a lil closer right up to it... finally: ontop of it, using the macro lens only in the last shot can we see the thin lined texture of it. what's going on? in the few chops i've done, i simply darkened the hood... it's so much easier than following the CF tutorial ![]() ![]() and in my opinion more realistic.what do you think...? got any examples ? open to all opinions.

It depends on the CF. I do lots of fiberglass work and have worked with carbonfiber. It all depends on the type of CF your using, if its by directional carbon fiber it tends to be darker. If you using uni-directional it tends to be a little lighter. It also depends on the weight of the CF (no not how much the hood ways) the typical weight is 9oz. 9oz. weave is usually visible from about 10-15 feet.
However all these veriables can be changed with different epoxy, resins, and clear coats. Sometimes people put a special clear surfacer on it, that illuminates the weave much better. It all depends on the CF, weight, type, resin, epoxy, clear-coat. Also, a lot of FRP stuff is different. Sometimes its light sometimes its dark.

Re: Carbon Fibre- graphic manip. discussion, no chop
he's totally right. plus a cf bonnet in which the cf is visible can be much more asthetically appealing, making the car more likeable, and make the overall style of the car increase. if u compare a larger and smaller cf weave in the same picture, many times, the larger can have this effect
