Don't hate

Alright, well my buddy totaled his 3000gt, and I happen to have a 91 civic with no engine laying around, he's willing to give me the engine, tranny, ecu... for $500. Of corse you all know what went thru my mind. What I was wondering is if i started a little project car, if anyone had any usefull information to help me along, such as axles to use, any bright ideas really. I probably won't end up doing it, but it's fun to think about. Anyone think it's at all reasonably to a point, possible?

Re: Don't hate

i also would like some info on this project. I happen to have an extra vr-4 engine and a 94 honda civic. i like the thought but i don't know. i think that if we did this we might be pioneers. but can you imagine what that car could do? a twin turbo 3.0 in a car that weighs so much less!....sounds expensive.......good luck

I think one of your biggest challenges is getting the engine to fit in the first place. I don't know if the engine bay has the space you need to fit it (or the motor mounts to hold onto it).

Interesting idea, I hope you guys can pull it off.

Re: Don't hate

As for mounting it, I can fabricate my own mounts, no problem, my dad made his own for his chevy. As far as fitting it in there... we'll see.

Re: Don't hate

i had a 90 civic before, was my first car, and i know for sure that the 3.0 v6 will NOT fit in a 1.6,1.8 lit v4 engine bay.. the 91 civic is the box style i believe and if you do get it to fit, you won't be able to close the hood,lolz... and the weight would be a big problem, the first gen civics are very light cars, and the v6 is quite heavy, you would have to get new springs and if you hit a bumb, you have a chance of dropping your engine. With the 94, that's a little bit different, i don't really have much experiance with the later gen civics, but i dont' think a vr-4 will fit... it's a nice idea to drift on but that's where it'll stay..

It has been done in the past, and offers ease of modding as opposed to the 3k/Stealth motor.
