Question what do I need before the turbo?

I'm new in the car thing so I dont know too much about aftermarket. I live in Japan and I own a Honda civic SiR hatchback. I need to know what parts I need to buy before I buy and put on a turbo kit? I would ask people here but, no one speaks any english which makes me SOL. Good prices and Best parts are always good. So can anyone give me a push in the right direction?

Re: what do I need before the turbo?

What do you mean, what kind of parts do you need? Are you talking about parts other than the turbo or parts other than the turbo kit. What parts come with the turbo kit. Id susgest buying each part individually and not getting a kit, it will be worth it in the long run

Re: Re: what do I need before the turbo?

supporting mods, bigger injectors, hi- flow fuel pump, adj, fuel pressur regulator, and inhanced ignition sys, msd maybe, fuel managment, like a standalone or a apex-i safc, copper spark plugs b/c they burn cooler on turbo cars, low-comp. head gasket, you mihgt want to put more agressive cams, re-build ur bottom end if you want to boost more then 8psi saftely, theres probably others but i cant think of them right now.. but make sue your tunning is right when you install the turbo of kiss ur motor goodby..

Re: what do I need before the turbo?

Yup he pretty much hit the nail on the head. Id go w/ the Hondata as it is better for tuning than the apexi safc

Re: what do I need before the turbo?

Ya stroker kits are nice but u dont necessarily need one for a turbo. The supercharger should be nice, but w/ a turbo u could eventually run more boost and get more power

Re: what do I need before the turbo?

i thought stroker kits made the engine way more unstable when boosting? i'd save up for the turbo man.. you'll be kicking yourself in the end if you don't

They don't speak English, but don't you speak Japanese? I mean, wouldn't that sort of be essential to living there?

boost it man . . . more potential in that I can help you put a kit together or get a cookie cutter kit (greddy, drag, revhard etc . . .)

Lightbulb

isnt it possible to run a turbo charger kit on only 7psi and get the psi up after you do internal work. I have heard that in several places just getting a full rounded opinion.

1) Stroker kits are a waste of money for a turbo honda, period. I don't feel like going into it right now, but if you would like to try an argue your point in all caps, go ahead.

2) Vortech/Procharger centrifugal kits suck the big one on high revving small displacement cars. You get no low end kick because they make boost/power linearly with RPM's, and all around suck.

you can run 10psi safely on stock internals . . . I have even seen people run 12psi+ on stock internals. it's all based on how well your motor was maintained, or how your motors current state is as far as compression checking, and mainly your tuning. if you have really good tuning or a really good tuner that will get you very far in the boosted world.
