What do i need to have a correct ls vtec set up?

Ok i have a 92 automatic integra rs. I want to do a lsvtec swap but not sure what all is involved. I know i need a b16a head with new oil line, but what else? Do i need a new ecu? if so which one? If its gonna be to much trouble then i thought about buying just a new stock head for my car and possibly adding a turbo? Any help would be great.

Yes it's a lot of trouble... maybe more than you'd like, my is to just turbo your B18A1, otherwise use the Search feature and look up LS VTEC.

You have two options joshsworld21:

#1 Turbo your b18a1

#2 Buy a Porsche

Try the Latter.

its not alot of trouble, but still probably more than your thinking, new dual sized dowel pins or drill the head holes larger for the dowel pins, a T and oil lines from back of block to back of head, tap/plug stock oil hole, get vtec ecu and run some wires. and I am pretty sure you need to get the water pump/timing belt combo from a vtec engine. and I think oil pump too.

sir2 auto

How hp does a ls vtech put out? Also i found out that they made an SiR2 auto for civics in japan, but the catch is they dont fit in the civics in the us but they fit perfectly in a 90-93 integra. Although they are rare, i should be able to find one when im ready to drop one in.

say it with me... LSVTEC, no H.

anyways if it is in a civic overthere, you can fit it in a civic here, they arent going to change the entire design of a certain model just to fit in one powertrain option.

the B16 bolts to b series trannies. also, you could just buy a B16 and bolt it to your auto you have now. as far as I know it works, because B series engines bolt ot trannies from B series. same with other families of engines, ive put an auto and a 5 speed to the same D series engine. and the engine in a car is the same no matter what trans it bolts up to. so if you really wanna get a B16 dop that, but LSVTEC makes a lot more power than a B16.

Re: What do i need to have a correct ls vtec set up?

What you need to make a reliable, long lasting, LS/v-tec

-Crank work
-Piston Rings
*-pr3 piston (in B16A motor)
-gaskets and oil plumbing
-V-tec head (obd-0 for 90-91), (obd-1 for 92-93)
-Inc. everything attached to head
-New filters and whatnot
-JDM shit B16A auto ECU.

^note, you will not get the full potential out of the v-tec head due to the auto tranny. This mator will also give you bad r/s built in free. Some people care, but others don't. expect a rebuild at around 150K if the assembly is good. 50k if you rigged it.

the R/S wont be any worse than it is now. it will stay the same, unless by crank work, you mean custom stroke crank, well then buy a new B18C1 cuz youll be cheaper in the end.

I figure you just mean have it checked and maybe get a journal returned or something and an oversized bearing set for that journal, or...

and before I woried about new pistons, I would check tolerances on all the bearings, then make sure the vtec head you get is in good shape and all the valves are seating right, lots more important then bumping up the cr, which is important for power but if you are ever gonna throw some boost on it might as well leave it down at 9.2:1. as long as the pistons look to be in good shape, hone the cylinders and get some new rings.

you would have to do something majorly wrong to rebuild at 50k, which I dont see happening, youll either really f something up and rebuild in like 5k or if you od it right it should last pretty long I think, never built one... !yet! but it is basically a GSR with different oil routing, and a bit worse r/s ratio. main thing is no piston squirters/coolers but I have read ona a site that deals with the eclipses that when he build s up the engines he removes the aquirters without a problem, if CW wasnt an issue im sure hed leave them in but since it is they are removed and says it doesnt cause problems.
