94 Probe GT ????

Alright guys... im looking to buy a new (used) car. A friend of mine found a guy selling his 94 GT 5spd for 7000us. He lives in upstate New York and uses the car as a DD to and from work. He is the second owner of the car and has all of the paper work for the car. Mobile 1 oil is the only oil that has been put in the car. I went for a drive in it today and I must say it looks and feels like the car is just off of the showroom floor. The only problem here is there are 155000 miles on the engine; the guy assures me that they are all highway miles. This being the case I still think that paying 6500(what he offered I never said a price) for a car 94 with 155000miles isn’t worth it. I couldn’t get the KKB value of the car cause my I.E. kept crashing.

What do you guys think... walk away from this guy or try and get him to drop the price? How good of an engine is the 2.5 will it require a rebuild soon? If I where to drive the car with any type of aggressiveness would the car die?

Re: 94 Probe GT ????

sounds like a nice car, but that price is way to high. try to drop it to at least 5, but if he wont, just walk away. there are better deals for sure, so do ur best to drop it.

Can you do me a favor and get the KBB value of a 94 GT in area code 11554, its really easy i cant generate the price report cause my IE freezes up.

Thats basicly waht i told the guy when i was in the car with him. I was like i really only have 5000, and i really dont think that this car is worth over that. And than he rambles on about this and that, and how perfect the car looks. I understand where hes comming from, the only reason hes selling the car is because his wife doesnt know how to drive stick, and doesnt want to learn.

Thanks

Lets say i were to buy the car? How long would the engine hold me up for? Would it die in 10,000 miles or if taken care of 100,000?
