well i had this big long detailed paragraph describing everything that was wrong with my car, but obviously i can't log in untill a few hours after i registered so i was not able to post it so here it is in a nutshell
i got a 74 plymouth scamp with a 318, it was a very VERY neglected car, now my problem is the steering and front suspension. the wheels like to bow in or something like that, they do some funny stuff, i can't go more than 20 before i have to back up to get them right again, so we thought it was the ball joints, so i replaced the upper and lower on the right side, and a bent tie rod sleeve on the drivers side(nothing too important to this) but the wheels still do it, we put it in my garage and jacked it up and adjusted the upper control arms to match each other the best we could, (also replaced the upper control arm bushings), still does it. dads friend comes over, puts his finger on the lower control arm on the right side cuz thats the one throwing it out of whack, and he said it moved in and out a bit, so we thought it was the lower control arm bushings, so i replaced the right side bushing, even cranked the torsion bars up a little bit more, still does it. I NEED HELP, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! the left side is not as bad but i will replace the lower cont. arm bush. could it just be horribly out of alignment? when i get some pics of the wheels doing their bad deeds i will try to post them if someone can tell me how. thanks |

check out you kframe and lower control arms where the torsion bars are.
Big fat wallowed out holes. Somebody was playing dukes of hazzard with your scamp. You might get lucky and it's just the lower control arms. At least this is my experience (only I was the dumba$$ that took my '70 340 dart over a bridge airborne) it only cost me $200 bucks to fix, but that was in 1987... replace BOTH lower control arms, and all the bushings. Check the rear and front torsion bar mountings/bushings too. Sounds like a good time to rework the whole suspension. check you centerlink for wear too, as it's sneaky and wears out overnight, especially over little bridges... Slantsixness
