Is this scam, replica, or real body kit?

There's this wide bodykit for 2003 tiburon for $699. It's normally $1200ish. I thought it was a replica at first, but then on the site it says 'Hyundai Tiburon Min Garage Wide Body' and the min garage kits are the originals my friend told me. BUT THEN, the wide body kit has 8 pieces. This one though says 6 pieces. Does anyone know if this is a replica, scam, or real?

copy kit
replica
NOT REAL
it wont have good quality and will definately have very poor fittment...
the price of kits is measured in the time and effort put into making them... 700 for that?... youll be getitn paper thin crap... bad fiberglass.. and even worse fittment

Re: Is this scam, replica, or real body kit?

I don't know too much about bodykits and fitment. I do know that i would rather have a polyurethane kit then a fiberglass kit, but I haven't seen any for my tiburon (01) yet. I do know what the guy at the body shop told me. I asked him how much to paint and install a bodykit and he told me about $400. he also said that that $400 covers the cost of any sanding, bondo or whatever he needs to do to make the kit fit right. As long as the kit is actually made for the car. The saying, "you get what you pay for" is true to an extent. What I am saying is with namebrand stuff you are paying a lot more than it is worth. The Veilside kit, for example, will cost you almost $2000. I know how much fiberglass and fiberglass resin costs because I have helped my dad repair his fiberglass sailboat. Shit, if I had the time, money, and patience I would make my own kit. I have been told by quite a few people that they will never buy another fiberglass kit because once the fiberglass "spiders" from stress it is pretty much unrepairable. So, I am kind of thinking that if my kit is going to inevitably break I might as well buy a cheaper one and I won't feel as bad when it does. Now, if I had money flowing freely out of my ass I would sure as hell buy the veilside kit. But then again, if I had money like that I wouldn't even be driving a tiburon, to tell the truth. I like my tiburon, don't get me wrong, but I would like an IS300 or G35 even better. While I am on the subject of overpriced name brands, another good example is cold air intakes. Almost $300 for and AEM intake. Give me a break, seriously guys it is a piece of aluminum piping with a cone filter on the end. You can get that same piece of piping for $20 and put a $35 KN on the end. I can see paying up to about $100 for a cold air intake, but $271 is rediculous. Now, I know that is a little high priced for the AEM but that is what the local speed shop is charging. I would like to see the dyno results of my car stock, my car with the AEM, and then my car again with a home-made or generic intake and see what the difference is, if any. I really don't care too much about a couple of horsepower anyway. I just want it because it sounds cool. Same thing with an exhaust, I can get the local exhaust shop to make me a free-flow dual exhaust (that is mandrel bent) for under $200. Do you think those $350 name brand exhaust make more horsepower, I don't. I know there is a certain pride in being able to tell people that you have an AEM, or a DC sports, this that or whatever. I feel more pride in being able to say I got this for $150. So, for the price of one AEM intake, I can get an exhaust and an intake that is generic.

Re: Is this scam, replica, or real body kit?

theres only 1 poly urathane kit out... and its really ugly...
everything else is fiberglass
except for razzi and apc.. which are both crap...
thats abs plastic
veilside over prices their kits...
they know they can sell their kits that expensive cause they have a good name...
if you get cheap fiberglass.. or a thin kit... there will be alot of problems...
you get a well made kit and take care of it...
then you shouldnt have any problems

Re: Is this scam, replica, or real body kit?

If you think that the fiberglass is thin you can always make it thicker by adding your own fiberglass sheets to it. If you put it on the backside of the kit you won't even have to sand it down really because no one sees the inside of the kit just the outside. Of course you would have to known what your doing unless your willing to learn on your new kit. It's not hard to do really, just ask anyone that works on fiberglass boats. They can show you or might even do it for you for a decent price.

this is true... but this is a price to pay on a poorly made kit... to get it up to par...
