87 mazda... wont start.. please post anything that may help

at first i thought it was the automatic tranny... cuz i had to jiggle it a few times before this happend for the first time...

i hear a click when i turn the key.. and the fuel pump, but no starter motor... nothing at all... maybe the ground for the starter??

any ideas would be a great help... thanks

check and adj. you neutral safety switch , if it is bad or out of adj . then the car won't start
