Rookie mazda user that needs help

Hi.. I just got a 94 626 but have not enjoyed the car. It just refused to start. It sounds like it's about to when you turn the key but just keeps making noises like you have a weak battery. I took it to a shell station and they said they don't know what is wong with it. Could someone please help me out. I am a student so I cannot afford to keep paying tow cost and not getting my car repaired...thanks.

have you checked to see if you are getting spark , you might have a bad distributor , mazda has always had a problem with them
