Question Fuel Filter

Gentlemen, I have a 2001 Silverado Ex-Cab Sportside 4x4 w/ the 5.3L engine and it's time to change the fuel filter. As I don't have a service manuel yet, can anyone tell me where the filter is located. Thanks!

Re: Fuel Filter

goto autozone.com they have a component locator feature as part of the website. Most likely it's on the frame under the cab but they can tell you for sure.

Re: Fuel Filter

it's in the drivers side frame rail a little behind the drivers door. you need a 16mm and 13/16" or 21mm wrench to change it. it's recomended that you depressurise the fuel line by removing the fuel pump fuse while the engines running and allowing it to die. i usually don't bother with this only a little bit of fuel leaks out.

Re: Fuel Filter

A bit of info for you. When hooking the lines back to the filter, be sure the o-rings are in place. One of mine slipped out and caused gas to leak.
