Angry Grrrrrrrrrrrr Urgent Urgent Urgent

hey all, i got a 92 cavy but heres the thing, i just did the head gasket ect, fired her up, she purres like a kitten. heres the problem, when i turn the key to start it, it goes through the accessory and then fires up. well when its running i cant shift from park, unless i shut it off and turn the key past where you leave it running.(confused yet?) is there a spot somewhere in the ignition that i can adjust it to work. is there some sort of shift lock ??? anyone have this kinda problem before? cuz ive never heard of it. it shifts when shut off no problem but wont shift when running any thoughts???

Re: Grrrrrrrrrrrr Urgent Urgent Urgent

The ignition switch is halfway down the column-under the dash. Remove the two bolts that hold the column to the underside of the dash and drop it down.
There is some slight linear adustment on the switch, but it sounds like it might be worn out.
There are interlocks. Look for a detached/loose/bent actuator rod somewheres also.
