Help: Fuel prob. on 89 Civic
I need help to guide me in the right direction. My son has an '89 Civic 1.5 with a fuel problem. It will idle only, and that is because the top (brown) injector is leaking. I just put a different carb (throttle body) unit on it and it would'nt even start. I changed out the injectors and it would idle again (the brown injector again). I changed out the green injector to see if it would work with no such luck... It still just idles no matter what position the pedal is in. My opinion is that the green injector is not getting any signals to squirt. The computer gives me a 16, which is the injector. I've also changed out the pump control under the dash...
Is there a way to check the voltages etc at the injector? Help, Help, Help....... Thanks Chuck |

Adding to what I've done. I checked the ohms of the wires and I get .002 and I get .001 on the injectors. I also checked the voltage at the injector and got 1.6 volts DC

Problem Solved
Just an FYI, I figured out the problem. I suspected it, but just didn't think that was the problem and the bolts were badly rusted and would have to be cut off.
It was the catalytic converter... doh!!!. I talked to a guy and he told me to take out the oxygen sensor to relieve the back pressure (too simple). Hit the key and it was running... Pulled the converter and it was plugged. I didn't think that was it 'cause I could feel what I thought was plenty of exhaust coming out of the tail pipe.. Oh well, anyone need a throttle body with injectors and/or computer? I now have extras... |
