is this job worth it?

yesterday, i got a call from a new car audio/exterior modification company and he wants me to work for him. it will be $6/hr cash. i get anything i want for free, but he gets to use my car for competitions and shit like that. but if i total over $500 of free shit within a month he will take the difference out of my pay. i want to work for him, but all ill be doing is answering phones and hooking up car stereos when he needs me to.

Re: is this job worth it?

It doesn't sound bad as a part time deal. I would have killed for the opportunity to get free equipment when I was in HS. But now I have a guaranteed job during the summers that pay decently well so I don't worry about it too much anymore.

Just out of curiousity, if you don't use all your $500 monthly alotment, do you loose it or can you save it for the next month, so you have $1000 to spend on stuff, you know....so you can save it for something a little bigger, like a DVD headunit, etc.

Re: is this job worth it?

at first i didnt really wanna take the job because i was waiting for my summer job. but i went ahead and took it. i dont think that my alotment carries over to the next month. and when he goes to shows i get a percentage of the prize money, but he keeps the trophies in the store. but i get to ride around with all of his shit in my car tho....so its pretty tight...

Re: is this job worth it?

I like my car being my car.
I can see that job turning into a problem, like him taking all the free shit when you quit or something.. even if he has to come break into your car and steal it back. A car shop around here was rumored to do that, install people's shit then go to their house and steal it back. But if you're cool with the guy and your instinct tells you it's 100% okay, then go for it.

Yeah, listen to your instincts. They are usually correct with things like this. If it doesn't feel right, cut bait and walk away.
