Turbo burning oil

I am only running 6 psi on a 1997 honda civic dx.. The car is fine I know that and it only starts to get blue after the turbo. I just want to know if a seal of a gasket, or somthing inside the turbo could be shot. and how much it would be to fix... And i know the turbo works because I can hear it and when I drove it I could feel it it just burns oil

Re: burning oil

is it a new turbo ? or is it a used one ? if used what kinda vehicle is it out of ? certain turbos are prone to certain probloms...and it would only do it when when the turbo was pushing boost anyways because thats when it would put pressure on your seals, rings and so forth..so def make sure its the turbo and not just the engine when its under boost

turbo burning oil

Its def. the turbo. and its leaking oil into the exhaust. Its used and from an mazda 626. It has no play but I think its a seal inside it. It seems easy enough to take it apart and replace a seal or a gasket but then again I dont know that much about this stuff... If u could tell me If I could do it, where to get parts, or who could I send it to to do it for me.. thanx

Re: burning oil

call up your local mazda dealer (migth be the same as your ford and lincoln dealer) and see how much a gasket kit is for that turbo. they will offer a rebuild gasket kit for it. you could check around at Carquest and Napa ..places of that nature but with somethin like this its always better to stay dealer, but sometimes the price diff is crazy..but the dealer is prolly gonna be your best bet. I dont see why you couldnt repair it..being that you have basic mechanical knoledge..let me know what you find out on the gasket kit and if you get lost when you crack her open
