Some questions...
I have an 88 Cavalier RS, and it seems to have some problems.
1. When I stop, the engines shakes, which shakes the entire car. This only seems to happen on a low tank of gas, and it goes away for the most part when I put it in neutral or park. 2. There's a knock in the engine, which I have a feeling is a bad crankshaft, but i'm not sure. 3. I want to put a new engine in my car to try to stop the problems I listed above, but i'm not sure where to get one from. I want to go for an engine with more horsepower, but stick with a Cavalier engine. I'm thinking of going with a 2nd generation Z24 engine, but i'm not sure it will fit. Any links or ideas? Thanks for any help. |

dude, i couldnt' tell u anything about the first two things, but on the third: if u wanted to go with a z24 engine, i dont' see how it wouldn't work, but i had my 94 cavy engine replaced a few months ago with one out of a 97 corsica(which happens to be a v6). the only problems i have is that the electrical codes don't match up and so the check engine light comes on sometimes even when there's nothing wrong. if u want to replace the engine, u should take into account how much the car means to u and how much longer ur going to keep it cuz it set me back almost 2 grand, i think the engine itself was only 800 but the labor was pretty costly.

Re: Some questions...
probably not worth the cost unless you can find a engine for really cheap.
