Exclamation Poll: Best Import

Ok its time to choose your favorite import and see who comes out on top. Hope the poll thingy works if not just choose between the GTR, Lancer Evo, NSX, Silvia, RX-7, and Supra.

Re: Poll: Best Import

How is the NSX above the FD? I've watched dozens of JGTC, Best Motoring, and Hotversion races and the FD is always walking everyone, then comes the Skylines and Evo's, then NSX's.

What qualities about the 3KGT VR4 makes it the best japanese car to you? Just curious on why you feel it outclasses every other car in all categories...

If comparing Stock to Stock, I do believe that the NSX has more potential than the FD. That makes it a good car.

imo it looks better than all, the top japanese cars run in the 13's and the vr4 running 13.5 puts it even with the nsx in the 1/4 mile unless its the nsx-t. i beleive it was road and track that did a battle between the supra and the vr4 and had identical 1320 times. looked down on cause of the weight its hp and tq and awd launch make up for it! high speed handling is rated an A+ which is also underestimated. again because of its weight looked down upon as a freeway racer it is actaully very good on highway speeds and top speeds. 1st gear goes to 65mph can't remember 2nd gear but 3rd gear goes to 125mph with a 7000rpm redline. its just a hell of a car, did i say looks?

its not really easy to explain since most will down play it soooo much but here is a quote from a guy who owns a tt supra a skyline and a vr4

quote: "i can say this much about the car, even though its heavy, with its tourque range and awd, a properly tuned 3000gt is unbeatable on the street, its the ultimate srteet car, and i know because i also own a supra and a skyline."

he also states that, to 3000gt owners its a mystery the car never enjoyed quasi-legendary status.

if the skyline looked as good to me i would pick the skyline r33, but the vr4 is a hellova car!

by the way, i don't think it beats all the japanese cars in every category, but when i take all the categories of a sports car and rate them all 1-10 the vr4 ends up with the most points.

somone posted "whats the worst japanese car ever made"

and this was somone's answer

"I cant think of any. One that fails at what it was made for. I would say DSM due to relaiblilty, but its a quick car for what you pay for. The a Civic? No. Its made to be cheap, and last for quite some time.

So I would have to say the 3000GT. I cant stand how the engine is placed horizontaly. Pluss, in a pure sports car, I would want more RWD in the equation."

see what i mean i'm not worried about it, i love it and everyone has there opinions

Re: Poll: Best Import

Looks: Opinion
Power: Its definately fast and has potential.
Handling: Im not so sure, its AWD system is no where near as advanced as the Skyline's ATTESA. And from all the track footage i've seen they dont fair too well with the JGTC top contender cars (FD, NSX, Supra, Skyline, EVO)

Its one HELL of a car, but they have alot of Tranny issues, and I dont think it'd be my pick as best Japanese sports car. Its more of a touring car anyways...

Either way, you can guess which is my favorite import when it came to looks, power potential and handling...

Re: Poll: Best Import

The MR2, while the Skyline can run circles around it, im not a big fan of it. Too Mustang for me, the car just isnt me.

Lightweight, Race Layout, True Sports Car, tons of power potential, thats for me.

Re: Poll: Best Import

you guys could guess what my favorite japanese car is. a nissan 300zx tt. yes, there are faster japanese cars out there, but damn the 300zx looks so awesome. but of course, looks is always an opinion. the vr4 is a cool car and gotta love the mid-engine layout of the mr2, but just in my eyes isn't as good as a 300zx. my .02.
