1999 escort timing belt
Hi all,
Anybody here ever change the timing belt on a 1999 escort, 1.9L? If so, how big of a job was it? I am looking into it and it looks like I can actually get at it without removing the engine. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Hip |

Re: 1999 escort timing belt
You won't have to remove the engine to get to it, but you will likely have to dismantle more than you want to. Mine is a different year so I can't give much guidance here... but I can at least tell you that the engine doesn't have to come out.

Re: Re: 1999 escort timing belt
Thanks guys.
The 1999 has a couple differnt motors. Mine is a 1.9l. I knw there was a 2.0 as well. I have changed the belt. It was not to bad a job actaully. Took about 4 hours. Timing marks were a bit tought to see, bith other than that it all went smoothly. Changed the tensionaer pulley as well. Hip |

Re: 1999 escort timing belt
If it's a 99 Esocrt from the USA than it either has a 2.0 SOHC SPI (4 door)or a 2.0 DOHC Zetec (2 door).
The 1.9 is from the 1986-96 |
