My oil sending unit has been going on and off for the past couple months. The oil level is fine. What could be the cause .
Thanks... |

Try changing the oil pressure sensor. I don't know what car you have, but on 88-91 civics it's right above the oil filter, and has 1 wire going to it. I'd imagine it would be around the same area in what ever you have.

Since the oil level is fine, a loose wire or the oil pump are the last things I can think of that would cause that to go on.

OK. so if the oil pressure switch is working properly it would be going of cause the oil pressure is very low, correct? What causes the oil pressure to be low. Probably a bad oil pump, not sure what else. Im going to change the oil and see if that does anything.

If i get higher viscosity oil will it raise my oil pressure.
