2005 Xterra info??
Hello:
As an Xterra fan I guess I'm not the only one wondering about the 2005 Xterra. Anyone have some info they want to share? How about some pictures or sketches? With the new Frontier being shown at many car shows. Do you guys think the Xterra will continue being based on the Frontier? What's the word on the suspension and other mechanical components? Thanks for the info? |

Re: 2005 Xterra info??
We'll know all the details next week when it debuts at the New York Auto Show. I'm attending a sneak preview next Tuesday before the press even gets to see it and I'll have pictures up that day.
Meanwhile, expect it to be very similar to the 2005 Frontier: http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/200...er/index.shtml Same engine, same suspension, etc, but it should still resemble the current Xterra to some degree. Expect the new corporate nose for sure. Brent |

Re: 2005 Xterra info??
Man but the frontier and pathfinder are using the new 4.0 engine. Is the Xterra going to use it as well meanign they can pretty much get rid of the pathfinder lol?

Re: 2005 Xterra info??
Yes, you can expect the 4.0 in the Xterra too, but the Xterra and the Pathfinder will continue to be very different beasts. The Pathy offers 3rd-row seats, more luxury, probably a tad more power, and has independent rear suspension and a full-time transfer case is standard. The X may offer the full-time case as an option like the current Pathfinder (SE is part-time, LE is full-time) but hopefully that's the only concession to the soccer-mom crowd besides the lack of locking wheel hubs on the 4WD (like the current Pathy has been all along)

Path will have a navi and some nicer goodies. And X-Terra will be more rugged.

I hope to god they don't put navigation in the Xterra. I'd rather take the option to put in and upgrade my own GPS system. Just more crap that marks up the cost of what was supposed to be a "back to basics" vehicle. (remember that phrase?)
