I'm looking at buying a 2003 bmw, and i need a little help. I live in Ohio so I need to worry about the weather. I just need to know if the xi makes that much of a difference in the snow and ice. Would really love owners of the xi and i in cold climate to tell me about there experiences.
Love the i but may need a xi? thanks |

I have the 325xi Here in Iowa. I would never have considered BMW as a possible car for me before they brought back the AWD model. I think it makes a big difference, and so I would say "don't leave home without it".
If tire squealing is part of what you are wanting though, then you may want to avoid it, as it is pretty uncommon for an AWD I think, or maybe with the 330xi you could, I don't know about that. |

Hi!
I have a 325XIT in PA. The car doesn't quite outperform my subaru outback, but it seems to hold its own. Tip -- we have replaced nearly all of our tires due to the potholes/damaged roads around here! Something to consider if your roads aren't in great shape. I'm not sure if snow tires would have made a difference, but the low-profile, performance/touring aren't so hot for longevity on bad roads. Otherwise, it's a wonderful drive. Good luck! -tracey |
