Re: 94 EX Ram-Air project

well i mean, the duct i planned on is about 3.5 inch in diameter, and i dont quite know how i would connect a 2.5 in bypass valve to a 3.5 inch duct

So your gonna do the ram air then?

If you have ram-air a bypass valve is a total waste of money since because of the ram-air design its not gonna do anything to prevent water ingestion.

You could just use a 3.5"-2.5" adapter hose to connect the two though.

Re: 94 EX Ram-Air project

well heres one for everybody, is there a stock bypass valve on a 94 EX, because theres a little tube that goes downward and thats all i can think of it being

and if a bypass valve wont do anything for me, how should i prevent water from being sucked into the cylinder?

I dunno... Have you ever FELT the pipe of a short ram intake system? I know the one in my car (UNpainted, polished aluminum) get's hot enough to burn if you drive around for a while. So I'd imagine, even if the air is passing through it rather quick, it would still exchange heat from off it into the air flow and make the air going into the T/B a bit warmer than would be favorable.

Just my opinion but I dont think the diameter is going to make a difference as the motor is not going to take in anymore air than it can pump out....Doubt you are going to run into a lean situation. It all boils down to your intentions the way you are going to use the car. And I agree the metal tubing will not heat the air.. The metal tube will take in more air than the stock depending on the location of the inlet the computer will compensate the dif in cfm. The more outside air the cooler it will be.If you are concerned that the metal tube will heat up, put some thermal wrap on it like headers have. And for the exposed filter.....How many race cars have you ever seen with one that was not exposed? If a daily driver and you have lots of dead presidents invested you should be able to buy a cleanning kit. Bottom line is your motor is nothing more than an air pump. The more air you can get in and out of the motor the more power you will gain.
